Bram stokers Dracula is an amazing book and an amazing movie with very few contradictions between the two. But where can you go wrong with a story about a man cursed by Satan and forced to roam the earth as a vampire taking the lives of mortals as they come to him and harnessing unimaginable evil power.
The story of Dracula takes and follows the path of many but starts with the path of Jonathan Harker. Harker works for a bank in London and visits Count Dracula on business to finish some real estate purchases. He is more and more concerned about the origin of this client as he wanders around the castle and is finally seduced one night by three vampire women in a sensual scene of true horror. Meanwhile Dracula is mesmerizing Johns girlfriend Mina and her friend Lucy from affar all the while imprisoning john in the castle he calls home for months. After several escape attempts the story goes cold and returns to that of the girls lucy has been bitten or so we are led to believe though Mina believes it is just a pin prick but it does not heal but gets worse but as Lucy gets a little better we find that John has appeared in a Hungarian hospital with brain fever and Mina chooses to go to him.
We now go to the story of John seward who begins writing about his new inpatient at the psycho ward who is going crazy eating nothing but bugs and speaking of a master who is coming and that will set him free and send the whole world into darkness. Though he is crazy his not far from the truth as Dracula appears in london. Mina then writes about John not being himself and raving on about ungodly things. John turns over his diary which he recounts everything in and tell Mina never to speak of whats in it. They get married and Mina does not read the diary out of her promise that she wont unless it is needed.
This is where everything gets exciting Lucy is getting worse again after nightmares every night and her pale appearance a Suiter calls long time friend John seward to examine her after letting him know that it is far above his knowledge he calls expert Van Helsing in to examine and eventually try and save her but fails Because alas Lucy is now a vampire and they must Drive a stake through her heart.
The group of unlikely heroes goes to save Mina after she is taken by Dracula. So both Johns Lucy's suiter and Van Helsing set out to destroy the beast Dracula is. The origin of this evil and the outcome will be found when you read this outstanding novel that is Dracula.
With twists and turns amazing writing and deep mythical characters Bram Stoker brings to life the legend that is Count Dracula. I would recommend this great book to anyone interested in a gut turning read or a dark romance story this book is a must read for anyone interested in vampires, ghosts, and ghouls. And in my opinion this book was the framework for many of todays movies and books about monsters and will be used as such in the future.
